Tisha B’Av Movie Screening of Among Neighbors
Location: Kehilath Israel Synagogue

Join us for a Tisha B’Av movie screening of Among Neighbors (2024) on Thursday, July 23rd at  6:00 PM. This event is open to the KC Jewish community, no affiliation with KI or B’nai Jehudah necessary. Following the movie will be a discussion panel with Rabbi Rachel Rothstein, Rabbi Moshe Grussgott, and Dr. Shelly Cline, Historian and Director of Education at MCHE; moderated by Rabbi Craig Lewis.

Movie description: Combining magical realism with traditional documentary techniques, Among Neighbors examines the mystery of a small, rural town where people of two different faiths lived side by side for centuries — until the killing began. The film reveals both love and betrayal as it zeroes in on a crime committed among neighbors: the murder of Holocaust survivors in Poland, six months after the end of World War II. The chilling facts revealed in this documentary have led the office of Poland’s nationalist president to call for a ban on the film. Produced and directed by award-winning filmmaker Yoav Potash (Crime After Crime, Sundance Film Festival). Executive Produced by Anita Friedman.

Program run time: 2 HR 15 MIN

CONTENT WARNING: This film contains discussion of the Holocaust. Viewer discretion is advised.
